National Children's Gardening Week 2019
As National Children’s Gardening Week approaches now is the time to plan fun activities to celebrate nature and inspire youngsters to enjoy the outdoors. The annual national campaign, which this year runs from 25th May to 2nd June, aims to capture children’s enthusiasm for growing plants and being in the garden.
Event Manager, Matthew said: “We are looking forward to this year’s National Children’s Gardening Week. I will be running a Children’s Planting Event on Tuesday 28th May between 11am and 12pm. Visitors can plant a geranium (free of charge) in a terracotta pot to take home, care for and watch grow. Geraniums are bee friendly so also give a great opportunity to teach the importance of supporting wildlife at home.
“The ‘Rainforest Roadshow’ Wild Wednesday event on 29th May will also provide a great educational platform to teach your children about wildlife and the ecosystems they live within. Dave and Sue run amazing interactive sessions that always captivate children’s imaginations. Don’t forget to book for this event as spaces are expected to sell out quickly!
“Finally, we will be re-launching our ‘Little Oaks’ newsletters (via email) containing planting and activity ideas to celebrate this year’s National Children’s Gardening Week. Our Little Oaks club is free to join and offers children free workshops, newsletters and birthday treats each year. To sign up visit the Welcome Desk next time you visit!”
