How to Grow Fothergills Oh Sow Simple Pea Snap:
-
Prepare the Soil:
Peas prefer well-drained, fertile soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. Ensure the soil is loose and crumbly for easy root growth. -
Sow the Seeds:
Sow the seeds directly outdoors once the risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Plant seeds about 2-3 cm deep and space them 5-7 cm apart in rows. If sowing in containers, use a good-quality potting mix and sow the seeds following the same depth and spacing guidelines. -
Provide Support:
Pea snap plants are climbers, so provide support such as a trellis, canes, or netting to help the plants grow vertically. This will save space in your garden while allowing the plants to thrive. -
Watering and Feeding:
Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods, but avoid overwatering or waterlogging the plants. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. If growing in nutrient-poor soil, feed the plants with a balanced fertiliser during the growing season. -
Harvest:
Snap peas are usually ready to harvest when the pods are full but still tender. Pick them regularly to encourage further production and enjoy fresh, crisp peas. Harvest in the morning for the best flavour and texture.
Fothergills Oh Sow Simple Pea Snap is a fantastic choice for gardeners looking for a fast-growing, high-yielding vegetable that is easy to grow and even easier to enjoy. Whether you're growing in a small garden, raised beds, or containers, this variety delivers a fresh, crisp harvest perfect for snacking, cooking, or adding to your favourite dishes.
