Support Given To Brecon & District Mind’s Ecotherapy Project
Last month we donated grow-houses, compost and seeds to a local ecotherapy initiative launched by Brecon and District Mind.
Garden Retail Director, Liam Cleary said “When we were approached by local mental health charity, Brecon and District Mind we were really excited to get involved and support their new ecotherapy project.
“Gardening and spending time outdoors is proven to have positive effects on wellbeing and mental health, so this idea from our local mental health charity, was one we were really keen to support.”
Brecon and District Mind’s Ecotherapy Coordinator, Seren Berry added “We are an ecotherapy project supporting people in Brecon and the surrounding areas to improve their mental health and wellbeing through Therapeutic Horticulture.
“We have a beautiful garden at the Cathedral in Brecon, managed by our drop-in gardening group where we grow a range of annual and perennials, edibles and ornamental plants.”
“Since the project started, we’ve seen how much it has benefitted participants through helping them reconnect with nature, improve social isolation and loneliness, and empowered them through learning new skills.
“We are so grateful to the Old Railway Line Garden Centre for supporting the initiative. They have generously donated equipment and supplies and have committed to supporting the project where possible moving forward.”
