Bingo! £1000 Raised for Brecon Mountain Rescue
This week we kick-started our 2020 fundraising efforts with a £1000 donation to Brecon Mountain Rescue.
Event Manager, Matthew Lewis said “We are delighted to have raised an amazing £1000 for our ‘Charity of the Year’ from our Bingo Night last Friday (21st February). The evening was a great success with over 120 people in attendance, including delicious food, bingo and raffle. £210 worth of voucher and cash prizes were won as well as a trolley full of raffle prizes.
“We have a packed events calendar to look forward to again this year including more charity fundraisers, ‘Wild Wednesday’ events for children, gardening talks and more.”
Garden Centre Owner, Mark Cleary added “Each year we choose a different ‘Charity of the Year’ which we support for a 12-month period. Brecon Mountain Rescue Team was voted for by most team members last June. The £1000 raised on Friday is a great addition to the fundraising total which now surpasses £3000.
“We are delighted to contribute to a cause providing a vital emergency service in our area. The rescue team is staffed entirely by volunteers and funded by donations. We hope we can continue to raise vital funds during other fundraising activities over the next few months.
“We love to support local charities and causes that we know do good in our area and need financial support. It costs approximately £40,000 per year to run the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team and we’d love to help contribute as much as possible.”
