Product Description

The Rosa rubiginosa ‘Sweet Briar’ is a traditional hedge and cottage-garden favourite, admired for its soft, lightly scented pink blooms. These appear in summer and pair beautifully with its mid-green, slightly serrated foliage, adding gentle colour and fragrance to the garden.

After flowering, the shrub produces clusters of small red fruits that persist into autumn. These hips provide essential food for birds and beneficial wildlife, making Sweet Briar an excellent choice for anyone looking to create a wildlife-friendly garden or enhance ecological planting schemes.

With prickly stems and a naturally bushy habit, this hardy shrub integrates effortlessly into mixed native hedges, informal borders, and wild planting areas. Given a sunny position and reasonable soil, it rewards gardeners with reliable seasonal interest and low-maintenance charm.
