Product Description

Paeonia lactiflora ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ is one of the most famous and widely grown herbaceous peony plants, prized for its luxurious, rose-pink double blooms and delicate fragrance. Flowering in early to mid-summer, the large ruffled flowers can reach up to 20cm across, creating a dramatic focal point in garden borders, cottage gardens, or mixed perennial beds.

Growing to around 90cm in height, this elegant perennial forms a clump of attractive divided foliage that provides structure throughout the growing season. The strong upright stems hold the impressive blooms above the foliage, making this variety particularly suitable for cut flower arrangements, where its soft pink petals and scent are highly valued.

Exceptionally hardy and long-lived, ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ peony plants thrive in a wide range of soil types including chalk, clay, loam, and sandy soils, provided they are moist but well-drained. Once established, peonies can flourish in the same spot for many years, becoming more impressive with each season. Plant in a sunny or lightly shaded position for the best flowering performance.
